BUYER PERSPECTIVE

Arid-climate projects need a root-zone and water-quality brief.

Heat, evaporative demand, source-water salinity, irrigation frequency and drainage strategy change the useful air/water balance. The substrate must be selected with the operating system.
WHAT TO SPECIFY

6 decisions before price comparison
01

Protected agriculture

Greenhouse and net-house tomato, cucumber, pepper, eggplant, berries and flowers.
02

Soilless culture

Grow bags, slabs, pots and propagation formats for hydroponic or fertigated systems.
03

Water and salinity

State source-water EC, fertigation programme, drain target and any salinity constraint.
04

Buyer terminology

Cocopeat, coco peat, grow bag, grow slab, soilless substrate and protected cultivation.
05

Arabic terminology

وسط زراعي (growing medium), الزراعة بدون تربة (soilless cultivation), بيوت محمية (greenhouses).
06

Supply planning

Confirm hot-climate sleeve/UV requirement, pallet or floor loading, port and project schedule.

ARID-CLIMATE BRIEF

Water efficiency depends on the whole production system.

Do not treat the substrate as a stand-alone water-saving claim. Match blend, volume, container geometry, irrigation scheduling, drainage capture and climate management to the crop and facility.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Clear answers before an RFQ.

Which coir is best for hot-climate greenhouses?

It depends on crop, cooling, container volume, irrigation frequency, source-water quality and drain strategy. A trial should reproduce operating conditions.

Is cocopeat suitable for saline conditions?

The substrate does not remove salinity. State source-water and nutrient-solution EC, treatment and drain management so the root-zone plan can be assessed.

Can grow-bag sleeves be specified for high UV exposure?

Sleeve material, colour, thickness and UV-life requirements can be discussed against an approved drawing and commercial quantity.
